Evaluation Question Four Answer: Part Two

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Web 2.0 Web 2.0 is important and therefore needs to be mentioned within my evaluation because it has allowed me to become a prosumer at the same time as being a consumer. This is because I am able to put my own project out there for people to view on sites such as YouTube.

The influence of mobile phones has a large impact on my project, they are used within the video and are a large part of my target audiences lifestyle. It was also used outside of the short film for parts of my evaluation such as my audience responses for quicker and easier access.

Technology allows not only me but an unlimited number of people to view my work, and even put their own out there in a similar way, whereas several years ago this would not be possible, only a selected number would be able to view my film. Also the affordability of technology over the years has allowed more people to both access and create their own projects.

Evaluation Question Three Answer: Part Seven

What have you learned from your audience feedback? How did you attract and address your audience?

Closed questionnaire results

  • I managed to receive around 30 responses to my questionnaire, as I expected the age ranges typically range between my target audience and gender, with the occasional reply from outside the targeted, around 20% of those that answered did not fit my target audience.
  • In response to my question: Did you enjoy the short film? around 78% answered yes, 8% said unsure and 4% said no. This can be expected as a film will never 100% please everyone.
  • To the question which part of the film did you find most effective? - The majority said they preferred the narrative but moderate percentage of 25% said they preferred the music choices. I'm happy with this result because if they preferred the narrative it means it was edited in the way I desired and had the desired effect.
  • Around 90% of those who took the questionnaire stated that they found it clear and easy to follow.
  • The location choices were stated as appropriate for the plot of the video as they were all relatable, I'm glad about this as it means that it worked for the story. This was the same for the costumes they were appreciated as it is the type of clothing most of the audience would wear.
  • Almost all of the replies said they would mention it to a friend or share it online, only a small percentage said that they were unsure.
  • In conclusion although these responses are useful they only give me a vague idea of my audience's opinions.
